The weekend was Morden's annual Corn & Apple festival! Morden is not a large town... about 7000 people. But on the festival weekend, the town sees more than 50,000 people! It's Manitoba's largest street festival. (It's on the same street as our salon!) Morden is instantly transformed into a busy bustling place full of entertainers, rides, food booths, farmers' market, local craft vendors, and more! A lot of local people usually leave town to avoid the craziness, but when you have kids, you can't help but take it all in with them. Simon had so much fun doing the rides. For the carousel, he insisted on riding the Gold Lion (reminds me of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, hehe).
We enjoyed supper and rides on Friday evening. Saturday morning was the parade, and Simon collected his candy. We did a few more rides after lunch, and took home some cotton candy and mini donuts. ;)
We picked up a bag of Morden Sweet Corn, too. It's really good. This is something I enjoy about my town, and look forward to it every summer. It's kind of the last hurrah of the season, too... before the kids go back to school, and fall is on it's way. :)
What's your favorite part of your local festival or fair?
