Red Velvet Instax & The Sewing Kit Dress

Here are some of my favorite Instax photos from my visit a few weeks ago.  I just love instant photos...

and look! I got to model The Sewing Kit Dress for Elsie's "3 Ways To Wear It" series!  This dress is my favorite, and I'll be able to wear it throughout my pregnancy!  See the post, here.

The Fall Dress Line is launching at the Red Velvet Online Shop tomorrow!! Which one is your favorite?  I can just imagine the excitement at the shop today, and the big sighs of relief when the line is live! So much hard work goes into a project this size.  I'm so proud of them!  I know some of these dresses are going to sell out *quick*!

Jackie & Chris' Wedding

My Sister-in-law, and her new husband just got their wedding photos back from Tim at Dawn Treader Photography, and I thought I would share some of my favorite photos with you!  Their wedding was beautiful, and it was a gorgeous day, too.  I had the privilege of styling Jackie's hair for her big day, and got to dress up my little man, Simon, in a Calvin Klein tuxedo!

Simon didn't always want to be photographed... he wanted to work on his own conditions.  He would usually comply after being bribed with Fuzzy Peaches. Whatever works, right? He deserved them anyways, for never complaining about being hot, even though it was really hot and he was wearing so many layers!

I got to wear my Pen Pal Dress from the Red Velvet Spring/Summer collection.  I put it on first thing in the morning, and wore it all day.  I loved wearing it.  It's one of my favorites pieces in my closet.

Simon did a great job as Ring Bearer.  He was proud of his role, too. He would tell people: "I get to be the Ring Bear! ...but it's not a real bear, it's just a suit." ha!

It was a highlight to our summer, and we're happy to have Auntie Jackie in town. :)

Maternity Style Weekly - 18 weeks

Outfit Details:
Lace Tunic - Free People
Leggings - Joe
Diaper Bag - Orla Kiely (gift from E & R)
Shoes - Chelsea Crew
Scarf - Vintage
Earrings, Charm Necklace, & Bracelets - Stella & Dot

This is what I wore to the festival on Saturday.  It's nice to enjoy these last few weeks of hot hot weather with bare arms and sandals.  The baby is growing strong as far as I know.. people are commenting how my bump is making it's appearance, and seem surprised when I say I'm just 18 weeks.  I've been feeling good, can't complain, although the heartburn has started already!  Baby is the size of a bell pepper this week, and it's hard to believe we're almost at the halfway point!

Corn & Apple time..

The weekend was Morden's annual Corn & Apple festival! Morden is not a large town... about 7000 people. But on the festival weekend, the town sees more than 50,000 people! It's Manitoba's largest street festival. (It's on the same street as our salon!)  Morden is instantly transformed into a busy bustling place full of entertainers, rides, food booths, farmers' market, local craft vendors, and more!  A lot of local people usually leave town to avoid the craziness, but when you have kids, you can't help but take it all in with them.  Simon had so much fun doing the rides.  For the carousel, he insisted on riding the Gold Lion (reminds me of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, hehe).

We enjoyed supper and rides on Friday evening.  Saturday morning was the parade, and Simon collected his candy.  We did a few more rides after lunch, and took home some cotton candy and mini donuts. ;)

We picked up a bag of Morden Sweet Corn, too. It's really good. This is something I enjoy about my town, and look forward to it every summer.  It's kind of the last hurrah of the season, too... before the kids go back to school, and fall is on it's way. :)

What's your favorite part of your local festival or fair?

Photo Session: Engagement

I'm shooting a wedding next month, and the couple and I met for some engagement photos this weekend. I haven't been doing a lot of photography sessions lately, so it sure was nice to get those creative juices flowing again.  The weather was perfect, so it was a good time.  I'm looking forward to their wedding!

Your daily dose of color... and them some.

[all images from the Rice Autumn/Winter '11 catalogue]

Just sharing a bit of eye candy that is melamine dishes from Rice dk.  If I could, I would have all open shelving in my kitchen so I could display pretty dishes... I have a weakness for bright colored and patterned dishes....

Give the catalogue a browse for even more color inspiration! The products are designed in Denmark (of course! Danish design always catches my eye), but manufactured in Third World countries with respect for people.

How's that for your daily dose of color? :)

On the field.

[canola seed]

This week, Simon was invited to Ryan's aunt & uncle's farm for a combine ride! He was excited to say the least.  My sister in law rode with him, and I snapped a few photos.  The field being combined was Canola, and seeing how it all works, and the seeds themselves, was pretty neat.
We ended the visit with some of Audrey's homemade cookies and home-brewed iced tea.  It was one of those things that boys love, and a part of summer/harvest that should become a tradition.

We've got the Corn & Apple festival in town this weekend! Can't believe it's that time of year again, and I can't wait to walk the strip and get lemonade & mini donuts!

Delilah's First Haircut

Delilah's hair has been growing a lot in the last few weeks, and it was looking a little uneven... so I gave her her first haircut tonight! It's so cute! I love that she has a bit of curl, and her shorty bangs are sweet... we sweep them to the side sometimes, but they look cute straight across, too. :)  I took about an inch and a half off, and she looks more grown up now (in my opinion). Love it!

I hope she enjoys getting her hair done, and played with! I'm so glad to have a little girl.
