[Can I just pretend that's me in the photo?? This is my favorite image from Orla's SS11 Campaign images... it makes me LONG for summer, for warm days, for sun-kissed shoulders, and heck, even a day at the beach! (I'm not really a beach person, lol) Totally swooning over those sunglasses, and that bag!! okay focus Holly...]
Today the sun is shining, and I'm feeling hopeful. Here in Manitoba, Spring has taken it's sweet time to arrive, but I feel like it's close. The snow is melting, and the sun's rays are finally feeling warmer.
There has been a lot of stress in my life the past little while, and I know that the stress has contributed to my lack of inspiration to blog. Also, I have put too much pressure on myself with the blogging thing. I think it's because somehow I made it feel competitive, with all the other fabulous blogs out there. I was feeling defeated when my life, my kids, my stress, and my business were taking up all of my creative time and blogging wasn't coming naturally. I really appreciated all of the comments on the previous post. Thanks so much for letting me know I'm not the only one going through this! I'm reading through the Blog Love E-Course for the n'th time to help re-motivate, and I've decided to take the pressure off, and make this blog a journal again. No schedule, no forcing it, just being me, and sharing my life & loves here in my little online part of the world.
Sometimes a change in seasons is just what we all need, isn't it? In more ways than just the weather.
Thanks again for reading.

yay, i'm glad you're feeling better about it all. i really enjoy reading your blog, you're more real than other blogs out there. People like real :)
ReplyDeletetotally agree with you. make it authentic. i need to work on mine too. someday. xo.
ReplyDeleteI am in the same boat - I feel like my blog is a competition with other bloggers! Trying to let that go and just have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's pretty much already summer here in Arizona - we hit 90* this week! Yikes!
oh holly thats a great thing. do it all on your time no pressure!
ReplyDeleteI know i will always read!
Glad you're blogging! :) I am the same way, I had taken mine down for quite awhile and started back up at the 1st of the year...still haven't quite decided what it's "supposed to be" but blog's shouldn't be a stressful thing. :)
ReplyDeleteoh i know exactly what u meant! All that beautiful distractions out there, it's hard sometimes not to feel competitive. I tell myself that the blog is really for my own musings and an outlet to share what I love and my connection with real friends whom I haven't met for a long time. I'm just lucky that i managed to make some new friends out of it once in a while :-)
ReplyDeleteI really empathise with everything you have said. I completed scrapped my old blog and restarted a new one, it feels so freeing. I guess we all need to focus on our blogs being authentic and yours really feels like that so I just wanted to leave you a comment to say that :)
ReplyDeletei am really happy you decided to continue blogging :)
ReplyDeleteyou are one of my regular reads!
Kisses from always - so - sunny -Greece, i wish i could send you some warm spring sun beams over there :)

PS - i wish i lived by you so you could give me a super cute haircut - i desperately need one!
Hi Holly! I'm glad to see you back!:) I blog, too, but it's really just for myself as well as family and friends that I don't get to see too often. Recently I came across this post (http://getitgirlstyle.blogspot.com/2011/03/blogging-now.html) and I think it hit the nail on the head for many bloggers out there. If you have the time, it's a good read.:)
ReplyDeletethere are far too many cookie cutter/copy cat blogs these days...i know how you feel! quality not quanity! :) happy happy spring holly.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder how my little blog will ever compete with the success of others, and then I realize this is for FUN. Nothing else.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling better and working on getting reinspired. Your blog is wonderful and a daily read.
Holly,
ReplyDelete"just journaling" is exactly what makes it interesting. People enjoy reading about YOU and your life because you're an interesting, creative, and fun girl! So keep blogging the way you have been. It is great just the way it is!
i totally understand. this is exactly how i feel with my blog, i just can't get motivated and feel like i have to compete with all of the other amazing bloggers out there. i always check your blog to get inspiration, and now i know you will have some pretty inspiring stuff on your blog in the future. i can't wait. :)
ReplyDeletei'm so glad you're gonna do your thing. i only know you from your gorgeous pictures and writing, but i would have missed you. :)
ReplyDeleteI was going through the EXACT thing you were going through. I felt the need to keep up with all these other blogs and I felt I was losing myself and my blog with it. Then I remembered, I'm not doing this for other people, I'm doing it for myself and my daughter and I'm going to stay true to that!
ReplyDeleteThe Sweetest Life♥
So happy to see you're back Holly! Just follow your heart and you'll know what's right for you.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy how real your blog is and I'm so glad you're sticking with that.
