motherhood.

At times being a SAHM is really tough. Saying it's hard to keep up with a household, a husband, preparing meals, being a good salon owner, cleaning up mountains of laundry and diapers.. is certainly an understatement.

Some days you just feel like crying. Screaming. Pulling your hair out. Taking a vacation (a very long one)...

But at the end of the day....
I wouldn't have it any other way. God has blessed me with 2 children, a family and a home to call my own. These times are busy, and they are hard, at times very.... but I'm happy that I can realize how truly lucky I am.

It's all worth it.
Motherhood is awesome.

[Summer Make-up Musthaves]

I'm a bit of a makeup junkie... I'll admit, I never leave the house without wearing it.
After having a baby, it's harder to take the time to get "made up", and I have a much simpler makeup routine. Here are my must haves for this summer.

For everyday simplicity:
Foundation: Mineral Powder Foundation from PureAnada.
Pure Anada makeup is founded/formulated by a woman from my town, and it's a great product!

Bronzer: Arbonne's Bronzing Powder. Favorite!
Mascara: Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express
The best cheap mascara out there, in my experience. :)

...and for when I want that little extra:
Eyeshadow: Kat Von D True Love eyeshadow palette

Eyeliner: Maybelline Line Stiletto

What's your number one item in your cosmetic bag?? xo

stuff.

Ryan has been busy trying to finish Simon's new "big boy" bedroom in our basement. The above wallpaper would be perfect on an accent wall. I love it.
He's still in his crib, but with Delilah moving in soon, we're graduating him to a twin bed, and he's so excited about his new room. He keeps telling us that he can't wait to get Buzz Lightyear bedding.... rats. Doesn't exactly fit in with how I wanted his room decor, but he's the boss, so I might just cave yet, because I know he would love it so much. Well.... maybe he could settle for a Buzz Lightyear pillow case?? lol, we'll see.

I haven't had time to blog much, but I'm still getting used to being a mother of TWO, and still trying to keep up with the house, etc. I think I'll call a friend this week if there's a rainy day, and turn it into a crafting day.....

Here's a photo of Lilah in an adorable little outfit from a relative. She wore it to my sister's Jack & Jill wedding shower that I hosted this weekend. :)
Oh! How lovely does the new Orla frangrance bottle look!? I want. Even if just for the bottle.

[watch this]

A stylist from my salon, Marcie, made this video featuring the new firm hold aerosol hairspray, ControlForce, by Aveda, and has entered it in Aveda's latest contest! The winner is determined by the amount of views, so please check it out here! :D
ps: She shows the hairspray with the wind turbines in the background as an ode to the efforts Aveda takes in protecting the environment. A portion of the sale of every can of Control Force hairspray goes to funding the companies that put up the wind turbines, to offset any damage that an aerosol product would have on the environment. Cool huh?
**EDIT: the contest only starts on the 20th we discovered. So I may re-post the video and get y'all to view it then. :) Thanks!! (ps her prize is an ipad, sweet!)

....and for fun, you want to see something crazy? I compared photos of Simon & Delilah at 1 month old, and how similar they look!

Happy Monday!

[Delilah & her many beautiful blankets]

Four weeks old.

I put my foot down and took my camera out to take a few shots of my Lilah Bear. We're definitely experiencing 2nd child syndrome over here.... When Simon was 4 weeks old, we'd already accumulated hundreds (seriously) of pictures of him. Delilah has only a few.... but hopefully I'll make more of an effort to take photos of her in this precious newborn stage. She's already changed so much!!

I wanted to dedicate a blog post to some beautiful gifts that Delilah has received... blankets! I love them all so much, and I know she's going to appreciate them when she's old enough to know the work and thoughtfulness that went into each of these gorgeous blankets.

This one is a quilt from Ryan's Grandma. She told me "It's quilted by hand you know, it's much softer when it's quilted by hand."
This one is knit by Ryan's aunt Audrey. I love it! I'm a little jealous, I'd love one of these big enough for me! lol. I love the color block design.
My Grandma had one of her friends quilt this blanket for Delilah, it's adorable.
The lovely Rachel Denbow made this quilt, and I love the vintage florals so much.
My good friends Jenna & Anita made this quilt, and it was the first quilt they've ever made! How special is that?! The fabrics are so cool, and the little "fawn" detail to go with her name is super cute. (not pictured, oops)
A big thank you to those who worked so hard to make a special gift for my baby girl. XO

Some link love for your friday:

and a great DIY crocheted blanket by the talented Dottie Angel.

Happy Weekend!!

I should be sleeping...

Instead I'm quickly posting some random photos from my phone, haha!
Mostly because I miss my blog, and I feel like posting something...

First time I felt cute wearing non-maternity clothes/sweats:
Baking for fun:

Delilah and a gift from one of Ryan's co-workers daughters, how cute!

Goodies came in the mail, for the kiddos: (ps I LOVE Blabla)

Out for a stroll with my Lilah Bear:
Enjoying the beginnings of summertime fruits like cherries and watermelon, mmmmmm:

Things are going well, but I'm certainly feeling the sleep deprivation.... so I guess I'll hit the hay.
I miss blogging regularly, and can't wait until we get into a groove, and I can pick it up again. :)
much love.
