Delilah on the move.

Delilah on the move., originally uploaded by hollysarah..

34 weeks 1 day... inbetween homes.

I've got a little less than 6 weeks until Baby Lilah's due date. We're currently staying at my inlaws' house until we move into our new one on Wednesday. Moving involves a lot of work, a lot of papers to sign, a lot of boxes, and a lot of change... Ryan has done a wonderful job of getting the hard work done, and not making me feel guilty for hanging out with Simon while he does so. We've got possibly one more load at the old house to bring over, and then the empty little abode will need a good cleaning. So we plan on doing that tonight, and then everything should be good to go for Wednesday!

I've got 14 granny squares for the next little afghan that I'm working on, so far. I'm thinking it'll get done before baby comes. Still not sure how big it should be... maybe 6 squares by 8 squares? Or 5 x 6? I've never put together a granny square afghan before.

Hope everyone's having a happy monday!

Fab Finds Friday - Stone & Honey

2. Leon

I came across Stone & Honey while searching online for necklaces... and I fell in love! I love the use of natural elements, with the addition of abstract design.

These might also strike your fancy if you're not into larger necklaces, or agates... The gold one is called 'Delilah'. :)

Aren't they beautiful! Inspiring too.

Be sure to also check out Smallthings, which is the company behind Stone & Honey. Their Flora & Fauna collection is so charming, and a lot of their pieces are equally lovely.
*Preeeeetty!*

On a different note... here's some facts about today:
- I had a meeting with the manager at our salon, and got excited about the services we're going to be starting.
- I tried my best to get 8 glasses of water down throughout the day.... I made it to 4 and a half. (big ones!)
- I painted my nails "Refresh-Mint" sooooo pretty.
- I made 7 granny squares for a pretty colorful blanket I hope to get finished in the next 6 weeks.
- I saw them put the "SOLD" sign on our yard.
- I gave Ryan a pretty nice haircut, if I do say so myself.
- I didn't have to cook.
- Ikea was going to charge me a BILLION dollars for shipping. No joke. I'm serious.
- I missed my maternity appointment at the Dr's office....
- It's our LAST night here,... in our very FIRST house.......
..... so I'm feeling rather sentimental.

Goodnight.

we've moving.

(images found via weheartit)

I'll be a little m.i.a. over the next few days, as we're going to be busy packing up and moving into our new home! It's exciting, but kinda crazy! Wish us luck.

ps: funny story... I was finishing a crocheted baby blanket that I started exactly 3 months ago, and got to the last and final row, a scalloped edge, only to run out of pink yarn on the last side!! I'm sooo close! lol, now I have to run to the store to buy a new skien just for the one side.... this ever happened to any of you before? Frustrating! Oh well.

cute plush crush.

Emily Martin of Inside A Black Apple has created a beautiful line up of charming spring-y plush pals for her Etsy shop update... which is happening this afternoon!

I'm loving the little bunnies.

They're a little nostalgic for me because my Grandma used to sew rabbits, and I have a special place in my heart for handmade bunnies. I love her choice in fabrics and colors too!
The red head is so adorable!
Head over to Emily's Etsy shop to see all her goods disappear in literally seconds.
Her new collection of paintings are also pretty special, I think.

We woke up this morning to a verrrrry chilly day... it's -13*C right now.... (which is 8*F for my american blog readers) Too cold for me! I'm wishing for warmer sunshiny days so me and Simon can go to the park just down the street.... he loves playing outside sooo much, but the park is still full of snow.
(from last year)

Hope everyone else is having a beautiful spring day! Feel free to send some warmth our way!

fancy frames.

I'm loving Urban Spectacles!
How fun would it be to have wooden glasses? I would love for my next frame to be made of wood.... I need a new frame too.... I'm getting tired of contact lenses everyday.

Tonight we're continuing to pack, and I'm hoping to finish a blanket that I've been crocheting for Delilah. :) I'll post photos of it when it's done.

Happy tuesday!

a day for friends.

I had a great day! I met up with my friends Stephanie, Laura & her beautiful baby girl, Zelda.
We went to this cute new place in Winnipeg called Kawaii Crepe.
They had a most impressive Nutella collection!
They had soooo many different kinds of crepes to choose from, it was hard to choose! I'll definitely be back. I told Ryan that we're going here for our next date night, because he loves crepes, and they had a suuuuuper yummy looking one with strawberries and ice cream, his favorite!
....of course I had to have bubble tea too!
It's so much fun finding cute new places to eat out. :)

After lunch, we did a wee bit of thrifting, and I was able to find some great fabric to slip cover the bumper pads for Delilah's crib. (we're not buying her new stuff, just going to re-use what Simon used....) I wanted her crib bedding to have a girly look, and the existing brown gingham with fire hydrants and dalmatians wasn't going to cut it... so I'm glad I found some cute girly floral fabric!

After the thrift store, we went to Ram Wools to pick up some round knitting needles for me, because Steph was going to give me a lesson. I fell in love with some vibrant Noro yarn that I had to get! The colors in Noro yarns are soooo gorgeous. I have plans to make a bright and fun granny square afghan before little Lilah comes, hopefully I get around to it.

I came home to a baby shower/supper with the girls from the salon. Great way to end the day.
Thanks to all who made it a fun one!

a cute crocheted slouch hat for your Blythe.

When Danielle of Kitschy Digitals asked me about how to make my bear hat pattern (from the RV Girls Blog) into a more slouchy version, I was excited at the challenge. I've been missing my crochet hooks lately..

So here's the pattern:

Blythe Slouch Hat/Beret

Using a fine/dk weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook.

To start, chain 4, and slip stitch into first chain to create a loop.

Row 1: Ch 2. DC (double crochet) 14 into center of loop. Join with a slip stitch in 3rd ch. Ch 2.

Row 2: 1 DC in same stitch as Ch 2. 2 DC in each DC around. Join by slip stitch into 3rd ch. (28 stitches) Ch. 2.

Row 3: 1 DC in same stitch as Ch 2. *1 DC in next DC, 2 DC in next DC* repeat from * until end of round, join with a slip stitch in 3rd ch. (41 stitches)

Row 4: repeat row 3 (60 stitches)

Row 5: repeat row 3

Rows 6, 7, & 8: 1 DC in each DC until end of row, ch 2.

Row 9: Double crochet decrease all around the row. Join with slip stitch. Ch 1.

**Double crochet decrease: Work a double crochet in the specified stitch until two loops remain on the hook. Keeping these two loops on hook, work another double crochet in the next stitch until three loops remain on hook; hook yarn and draw through all three loops on the hook.

Rows 10 & 11: 1 DC in each stitch around, sl st, ch 2.

Row 12: 1 DC in each DC around, sl st, ch 1.

Row 13: 1 SC in each DC around, sl st. Finish off.

ETA: Some changes have been made to the pattern as it was brought to my attention that there were a few typos that would affect the outcome quite largely. I apologize, and let me know if you have any other problems. xo

Enjoy! I'd love for you to show me a photo if you make one. :)

Happy Saturday, and Happy first day of SPRING!!

what a gorgeous day!

I was continuing my efforts to pack up the office/craft room... until I got distracted by these two... oh well, we had fun taking photos outside. :)

I'm enjoying the day at home. Simon and I watched Toy Story together, and I'm looking forward to making a yummy Oriental Chicken Salad for our dinner guests.

Oh, and because I'm a McKenna, it's only right that I wish everyone a Happy St. Patricks Day!!

hello in there.

hello in there., originally uploaded by hollysarah..

attempting to document the last trimester a bit better than I did the first and second.

holy cute!

I've never had so much fun, anticipating a girl is something I've always dreamed of doing! Delilah will be here before we know it, and I can't wait to play dress up, wear dresses together, and be girls! These beautiful outfits are from the new (super popular!) Liberty Of London collection at Target. I may or may not have done some shopping for her today. ;)

tuesday.

it's tuesday.
this is my breakfast. mmm, vanilla yogurt and mixed berries. I've had a really strong berry craving these days... I woke up and the first thing I thought of was berries. :P

Simon is still sleeping (which is good, he's getting over a cough/cold), so I decided to take some "me" time and have breakfast by myself, and watch the premiere of ANTM. :) Looks like it's going to be a good season! The makeovers are always my favorite.

So we've got 2 more weeks to pack up and move out... woah. Seems like a lot of impossible work when you're 32 weeks pregnant, but Ryan has made it clear that he's capable. Today I want to start packing up my craft space... it's nuts! I haven't properly used my craft desk in a very long time, and there's going to be some MEGA simplifying going on in there. I need to go through all the supplies I never use, and all the projects I'm never going to finish, and get organized! (hehe, if you know me, you know I'm not a very organized person..... though I'd like to be!) I even bought a magazine by BHG on how to get organized... it's very inspiring!

I've got laundry to do, dishes to clean up, rooms to pack, stuff to organize, a lil rambunctious boy to play with, haircuts to be done, friends to see.....

ok tuesday, let's do this.

spring cleaning.

I'm doing some spring cleaning on the blog, so as part of it, I made some new blog buttons! I'm so flattered whenever I see that fellow blog followers have my button on their blog, so thank you so much for sharing the love! I made these a little less flashy, with only one image. So feel free to grab the new one in the left sidebar. XOXO

We're also spring cleaning at my house too, seeing as how we're moving at the end of the month!! AH! It's a good thing though, (despite the work and stress), because it's like a fresh start. It's a good feeling to throw away a ton of stuff!

The salon is spring cleaning too, by clearing out all the old product to make room for the new stuff. Spring cleaning EVERYWHERE! It's great. The weather is warming up, and hopefully the sun will start to shine more so we can get rid of all this snow! Springtime in Manitoba is sooooo sloppy and dirty and wet and gross and brown and.... you get the picture. Not pleasant. :P

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend!
ps: thanks for reading my blog, I love my readers, and I'm thankful for you all.
I want to do a giveaway for y'all very soon.... so look forward to that. :)

Fab Finds Friday - Girly Dresses

The Spring Update from Red Velvet Art was beautiful! I fell in love with the dresses that are vintage and/or re-worked. The girls did a fabulous job on them!
1. Cute Blue Minidress
2. White Swiss Dot Sundress - so summery!
4. Pink Polka Dot Dress - favorite!!
5. Oh My Darling Dress - love the embroidery detail!

....and I'm getting ahead of myself and posting a little birthday wish list. :) I'm turning 23 on April 24th, which is still over a month away, but seriously, I start making these kinds of lists at night when Delilah is kick-boxing inside of me and I can't sleep.... hehe.

I've been drooling over these cardigans from JCrew:

These driving shoes would become my everyday FAVES!:
(from Frye)

This bag is super pretty, it's made from Earth Leather, and it's a full functioning diaper bag as well!

(from JuJuBe)

I also love these sentimental sweet charms necklaces from Stella & Dot:
I think wearing your kids' birthstone charms is cute cute.

...or a cowl dress from Replicca, would be awesome. This one is made with nursing mom's in mind!

....and maaaaaybe:
(one for me, one for katie.cupcake! We like to share, lol) :P

ok, I think baby girl is settling down so maybe I'll give this sleep thing another try....
I'll leave you with a tummy photo @ 31.5 weeks..
