I crocheted this blanket for baby Piper Scarlett. :) It didn't take me very long, because it's nice and small. The perfect size for a carseat or stroller. I used a pima cotton yarn from Knit Picks, and I was really impressed with how it felt! The colors are beautiful too.
I love crocheting things for other people.
Here's the blanket that I made for Delilah. This one took me 7 months to complete.... but let's just say it wasn't a huge priority. It's crocheted the same way as a granny square.. just bigger. A lot bigger. :)
I'm working on a granny square blanket for Simon for this Christmas. He has asked for a green one. I'm making green squares and grey squares. Hopefully it won't take 7 months to finish... ;)
Are you doing handmade this Christmas?

They are both beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI want to learn how to crochet so bad. Is it very hard to pick up?
Your blankets are lovely! My Nanna made me a couple of blankets like that-- one bright pink one when I was really young, and a (slightly) more subdued one when I got a queen size bed. Just like granny squares, only much, much bigger. I still have them :) I'd love to learn to crochet, but every time I try my mind gets all muddled up and my fingers won't do what they're supposed to.
ReplyDeleteI did almost all handmade last Christmas, it was great, but I had a lot of time off work (not out of choice), so that helped- I don't know how much time I'll have this year, but I want to do some crafting at least!
I am totally doing handmade for Christmas. Making little boxes of sugar cookies decorated with royal icing. I've been making Christmas ornaments already. I am so excited for Christmas this year.
ReplyDeleteSo awesome! I am making one right now for someone and attempted one for my daughter a couple Christmases ago. I so prefer the fast crochet projects. However, that gorgeous, smaller blanket you made is inspiring me to create something for baby number three on the way! I really would love to make one for each of my kids. I cherish the ones from my Mimi. She's 97 now and no longer crochets, but her legacy of crochet lives on in me and my blanket has been passed on to my daughter. As far as a handmade Christmas...I've given handmade gifts forever, but this year since my business is actually getting business I think I'm just going to have to buy handmade. Looking forward to supporting other handmade folks!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one, the color combination is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI want to do handmade gifts, but it seems like all my loved ones' birthdays are from September-January and I've given 3 of them scarves that I made already! It's a pickle. ;)
could you do a tutorial on how you go about making granny squares and connecting them?
ReplyDeletedid you use a pattern for the first one? i LOVE it and my nephew needs one for Christmas (in boy colors of course)!
ReplyDeleteWe always do handmade Christmas! Santa brings the bought presents but I have some VERY creative sister-in-laws, so we make handmade for our presents to our neices, nephews, mom, dad, and each other! It makes November and December SUPER busy, but the kids are collecting some great handmade memories!
♥
I love the first one! So so so beautiul.
ReplyDeleteI'm on maternity leave and planning to give only handmade gifts this year :)
Lovely work! I especially love the color scheme of the first blanket.
ReplyDeleteI am totally doing handmade holidays - at least part way. I mostly just make things for people who I know will appreciate them!
Oh wow they are beautiful! Did you use a pattern for these?
ReplyDeleteLittle Sugar Monster♥
they're lovely!
ReplyDeletei'm crocheting my mom a hat/mitten/scarf set, and making another pair of mittens for a friend for xmas. other than that, i've decided to spend my craft time making stuff for the babe i'm expecting in january (the one i had all sorts of handmade plans for and have completely neglected as time slowly runs out).
eek! all of your colour choices are suuuper gorgeous! I'm crocheting a light yellow and white blankie for a friend's baby... crocething is sooo much faster than knitting a blanket!

They are fantastic! I am newer to crocheting, but I LOVE it! So far I only really know how to make granny squares and connect them, but I still love the look of it : )

ReplyDeleteI have been desperately trying to teach myself how to crochet, so I can make my own blankets and gifts. It's a tough thing to master on your own though:( But I will be doing other handmade items this year for family and friends. I have so many ideas swirling in my head right now!
ReplyDeleteWoooooo they are BOTH so pretty!!! Perfect!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I want to learn.
ReplyDeleteStill love the name Piper Scarlett by the way :)
