Simon loves to be read to. He was so lucky to receive so many great books from family and friends for his 3rd birthday. He's been asking me to read to him a LOT these past few days, and I've found myself inspired by them! I feel like a kid at heart, and I really enjoy looking at the illustrations. Eric Carle's books seem to be Simon's favorite. He added
The Mixed-Up Chameleon
to his library, as well as
A House for Hermit Crab
,
The Tiny Seed
, and of course The
Very Hungry Caterpillar
. :)
My friend Tamara and her family got him this cute
pop-up book
. His favorite page is the one with the pop-up airplane.

The Octonauts & the Frown Fish
is one of the books I got for Simon, and it's my new favorite! It's a difficult read for kids, but I love reading it to him! Simon laughs at me when I read the big words. The illustrations are so kitschy and adorable. I'd eventually like to get him the whole collection of Octonauts books,
The Octonauts and The Only Lonely Monster
,
The Octonauts & the Sea of Shade
, and
The Octonauts and the Great Ghost Reef
. Aren't they cute?
What books do your kids love to be read?
I watched a documentary once about Eric Carle and how he does his books...it's tissue paper he pastes onto plain white paper! Cute and easy :)
ReplyDeleteAww I miss children books! My favorite was the one with the caterpillar. I forgot the name of it though. I can't wait to start reading to my little girl. :)

My 4 yo sons faves are:
ReplyDeleteanything by Oliver Jeffers (love his latest - The Heart in the Bottle -> want to get a tattoo themed on the book, it really hit home for me.
Walter the Farting Dog books -> I know sounds vulger but it taught my son that sometimes people are different and thats ok.
Tyranasaurus Drip -> prolly spelled that one wrong
Robert Munch -> my son LOVES his books, especially if I can find the books on tape he likes to follow along. Mr. Munch narrates his books so well I find myself narrating them to my son the way he does.
We are big book people in my family I have so many more but my son is asleep so I can't go into his room to check the other titles. Sorry. Enjoy reading with your son, it is the best part of my day.
I LIVE for children's books! Which is why I went to school for illustration! I have quite the collection of children's books going, and I know by the time I am ready to have kids I will have an entire library of books for them to read. Yaaay Eric Carle is great, love the colors and textures in his work. How magical is that, Holly, that you get to read with your son?! <3
ReplyDeleteI swear, sometimes I come across photos of homes that put me in a design daze (I mean that in a GOOD WAY, of course) where all I can think of is how I can apply something just as beautiful to my own home. Ever felt that way?? I L-O-V-E that feeling! Perhaps it's just plain INSPIRATION, but it gives me motivation & desire to want to create! ...and this is my site where i have few more articles that might help in this subject." ..

We've recently discovered Mo Willems. Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late, and a series about Piggie and Elephant. The illustrations are sooo cute, and the stories are just funny. Me and my kids laugh every time we read them.
