more sketches. I'm over halfway done my challenge.

sketch #11:  create your own forrest.  Mine would have yarn clouds, gem raindrops, candy trees, and a grape juice stream of course!

sketch#12: what's the household chore you like the least?

sketch #13: repeat lyrics from a song.  What are you listening to? (lyrics from David Crowder Band, and sketch inspired by Laura George's "happy" illustration) :)

sketch #14: How is your day going? Describe it in 5 words or less.

sketch #15:  write a date that you are anticipating. Create a curious feel by not giving too much away about that date.

sketch #16:  create a funny/ugly character. Just for fun.  Start by drawing a totally random shape on your page, and then add details as your eyes see fit.  It's fun to see what happens!

I love her use of color, and her charming characters.

late night blogging.

Chamomile makes me smile.

first of all... Aren't they pretty?? There's something about Elsie's paintings of her girls that make me want to be friends with them all.  I'm so glad she's re-opened her Etsy for collections such as these.

On another note, I miss you and your beauty, our silent friendship....

The girls that I went to DR with and I got together tonight, and it was so good to hang out and browse hundreds of photos, cry, and just remember the people we fell in love with out there... we miss them so much.  I wish I could fly back there tomorrow....

and on yet another note, tattoo: March 10th!
want a sneak peek??
ok.

for the rest, you'll have to wait and see. :)
good night.

ps.. this sketch a day business is tougher than I thought.  I'm falling behind, and a busy schedule leaves no time! but I will post all of them soon.

sketch #9.

I was thinking about things that I would like to make with my sewing machine one day... and patchwork pillows came to mind.  So I decided to sketch a patchwork pattern...  if you could design your own cushion, what would it look like?

sketch #8.

what have you been thinking a lot about lately? What's on your mind?
I've been doing a lot of what ifs....  I'll be able to talk more about it soon. ;)

Write a short sentence, or even one word, and have it as the main focus of the page.  Start creating an abstract background, and let your marker lead!  Abstract is very freeing and fun.

happy.

Simon and  I set up his first Thomas Train Set this afternoon, and it made me so happy to watch him play and play.  He's such a boy, and that makes me happy.

Elsie updated the Red Velvet Art online store tonight, and the tea towels that I worked on all January are in the shop! It was a proud moment for me to see them for sale.  I had a blast collaborating with Els during this project. Happy happy. :):)

My current RVA favorites:

sketch #5.

think of a pattern that you're into right now, and sketch your version of it.  Or come up with a new pattern that's unique!  I'm loving the patterns by Orla that are on all the cute new goods at target. :)

I made a scrapbook!

The "Color Me Happy" scrapbook from Rachel & Elsie's online class.  It was fun to scrapbook because I haven't in what feels like forever!!

I'm going to make the list of 50 things I love to put in the envelope, but I haven't yet.

I'm off to my Grandma's for dinner, so I'll post sketch #5 later tonight. :) It's been fun to see what others have sketched with these prompts!

have a lovelovely evening.

sketch #4.

Pick a shape (or shapes). I did speech bubbles.  Then think about things that you want to learn in the near future, or goals that you have.  Fill the shapes with those things! It's fun.

I've been working on a scrapbook from a tutorial on the "Pretty Online Class", and it feels SO good to sit down and scrap. Wow.  I'm feeling more creative this evening finally. :) :)

My mother in law and I were browsing interior design blogs this afternoon, and I fell in love with this office:

beauty huh!?!? I love the wall color. (Benjamin Moore "Waterfall" in case you want to know) ;)

Ryan and I are going to watch Dumb and Dumber now. Good ol Jim Carrey film to create some giggles. <3

ps.. I found the CUTEST blackberry faceplate ever.

now all I need is a blackberry, lol.  I have to wait until summer to update my phone. I'm being impatient about it. :P

Happy Valentines Day! (late)

First, Simon wants to say I love you!

The bandaged forehead is evidence of an encounter he had with the corner of a wall this morning.  Doc says it has to stay on for 5 days, unless it might need to be stitched.  Silly boy had to cut his head vertically too, so it'll scar apparently. Though I have a feeling it won't be this climber's last...

So this year I was a little lazy when it came to v-day.. I had good intentions, but no energy what so ever.  I've been soooo tired the last few days, that if felt like a chore just to get out of bed.  I think I'm still catching up from our trip.  So no baking, so cute cupcakes, no cards, no gifts from me,.. nada.  It was still a great day though.  Ryan and I attended a local marriage seminar that lasted most of the day.  Then for supper, we went to DQ (our Morden favorite!) for burgers and shakes.  It was good to hang out and have a date.  Ryan was sweet enough to get me a pair of Larimar earrings that he sneakily got while in the Dominican, and surprised me. :)

I know I'm technically posting this on sunday, but this is my sketch-a-day for Saturday, Valentines Day.

Think of a person you love.  Sketch their name in the center of the page. Bold! Maybe you don't want to do a person, then think of a thing, or a place that you love.  Then spend the next minute (or more) just looking at that name (or thing, place etc).  Then sketch out the words that came to your mind as you thought about them.  Use different lettering, and let loose with creativity! Add a doodle or two, why not.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentimes. (yes I just typed -times.)
watch this.  Always good for a giggle.

xoxo, holly.
