Trying to stroke stuff off the "handmade gift" giving list.
After attempting the first cuff for the THIRD time.... I'm taking a break. :P
If anyone has a mitten pattern that they lovie, please feel free to share it in the comments. I still consider myself a new knitter, and I'm looking for that 'perfect' mitten pattern...
happy friday!

where have i been!?!? i've missed like 4 posts! oopsy... :D
ReplyDeletei still working on the arm warmers from the rva girls tutorial... i'll be waiting for a mitten pattern too...
xo.
What about the pattern is giving you difficulty? Are you knitting in the round or flat? What size needles have you been using?
ReplyDeleteI've recently started writing knitting patterns and I might have one that would work for you.
Fadetag: the mistakes I have been making have been purely pregnancy brain.... lol!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm just looking for a really simple pattern. One that you can whip out a bunch of pairs in a short time.
I am knitting in the round on 4 dps. I have the thumb increase worked out nice, but the pattern I am using has a strange way of decreasing, which is different on the pinky side than on the index finger side. I would like to evenly decrease, so I don't get the sides mixed up.
That's awesome that you write your own patterns! I would love to do that one day, when I'm much more experienced.
ew knitting scares me!! I'm slow and terrible at it, so I stick to crocheting! Hope you find your perfect mitten pattern though! Mittens are the best when it's cold outside!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom always used to make these growing up. I can't knit so I have no idea if this is a hard pattern of if you can find a better one. I'm sure you've heard of them. I've even heard of them lined and totally want a pair of those for this cold Manitoba weather. They're called Newfie Mitts. Super fun. Again this link is just a random search.

My second real knitting project was these mittens. I LOVE them - they're nice and long and cozy.

These are going to be the next ones I make - but with just plain stockinette everywhere instead of the owl pattern. They look really well constructed.
