I want to make time to read. (hah. what time?)
I want to read everyday before I go to sleep.
I've never been a reader before, but I want to be one.
I love bookstores, they're my favorite place to browse.
I have lots of books. Lots of good books!
Ryan has lots and lots of good books.
So why am I not a reader?
Because I don't have time.
But I should make time right?
Yea, why don't I just make time....
like now.... I'll go read..... instead of blog.
to-do:
wash face.
brush teeth.
make tomorrows to-do list (you know there's a problem when making lists is on your list... oy)
read.
sleep.
I'll reeeeeeeeeead...hmm, Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. (Pete if you read this by chance, yes that is your book, and yes I've had it for a ridiculously long time, yes I will read it, and return it.... you'll probably never lend me a book ever again, and I understand. lol)
that was random. can you tell I'm tired?
ok. go!

Hey Holly, I love your blog it's so happy :) Just so you know, Velvet Elvis is an awesome read! I read it a year or so ago and it is so eye opening, and it's fun to read something that challenges some ideas you always had. Have you seen his Nooma DVDs? They're freaking awesome too.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just wanted to plug Velvet Elvis! Hope you enjoy it!

i bought my own copy of "velvet elvis" three maybe four years ago and still have yet to read it.
ReplyDeletei always get caught up with other books. but it stares accusingly at me from my bookshelf.
p.s. the nooma dvds are super cool. my youth pastor used to show one to use every few weeks, and every one was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI've just started being a reader again. University really kills the reading for pleasure thing. Bookstores are awesome.
ReplyDeleteif you need any suggestions please ask (water for elephants and time traveler's wife are both great.. and of course you know about eat pray love..) i am a super-reader!

ReplyDeleteI totally agree. you should make time to read.
ReplyDeleteYou can keep it as long as you need it and yes I will loan you books again! After Velvet Elvis he's got a couple of other great books - Sex. God. is one (I preached out of that) and Jesus Want's To Save Christians is another that I'm currently working through. Two other DVD's - The God's Aren't Angry and Everything Is Spiritual are worth watching.
ReplyDeleteI just started reading Velvet Elvis for a second time since the first time I had to write a paper on it. There are still new things that I'm learning from it again.
ReplyDeletei love velvet elvis! and i agree with emily... rob bell's nooma videos are freaking awesome.
