I signed up for Rachel & Elsie's online class! Spring will be wonderful in a lot of ways.
and, yesterday I had some success knitting on 3 needles!! Mittens!

I spend the day with Stephanie and we found this GREAT shop with a huge selection of yummmmy yarn! I didn't buy any because of the enormous heap I already have... but it was so much fun to look. Steph and I were both learning from a book on how to knit with 4 needles, and we were getting the hang of it! I won't tell you how many hours it took me to get to this point... but it's progress none the less! I sure hope I can knit on the plane to Dominican... anyone ever bring a knit project on a plane before? lol.
xoxo, holly

why am i jealous of you? Oh yeah--that's right...
ReplyDeleteYOU SIGNED UP FOR THE PRETTY CLASS.
jealous jealous jealous. I debated for a looooong time... but i just don't think i can swing the $60 this time. :[ I know, its sad.
I hope you have a GREAT time and maybe post pics of a few things you make? That would be cool. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
be careful about taking your needles on the plane, sometimes the security personnel will confiscate them. make sure to either take a self-addressed envelope and pack extra needles in your checked-in luggage along with a piece of wool to string through your knitted piece until you arrive.
ReplyDeleteIf your project is already on the needles, TSA seem less fazed about it :)
Have fun in the Dominican, and enjoy Elsie and Rachel's class, you lucky girl!
I signed up, too! I'm so excited. See you online!
ReplyDeleteI love your progress with the knitting and of course the yarn color. I've never tried 3 needles, only 2 in the past.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so excited for the class too. It's going to be lots of fun.
Wow, three needles? Good for you! I could never have learned it from a book. You are one talented gal! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and the name of the yarn shop you found? Please?
About knitting on the plane, you may want to check with the airline, they are not all very friendly toward knitting needles.
Have a wonderful trip!
Audrey: thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe yarn shop I found was Wolseley Wardrobe, on Westminister one block south on Prtage avenue. Half is consignment clothing etc, and the back is full of beautiful yarn!! baby alpaca, silk, noro, soooo many beautiful kinds!
Mmmm mmmm, baby llama is where it's at. ;)
ReplyDeleteMust do that again when you get back.
Try buying bamboo ones instead for the plane. Plus they are really nice to use
ReplyDeleteHey there! I linked to your blog through Jen Renee's and yes, I've brought my knitting along on plane rides before. You get your knitting and a mini DVD player with noise reduction headphones and you are set for a comfey trip :)
ReplyDeletesounds good! Thanks guys. My hubby checked the transport safety advisory too, and they say it's no problem, so I'll cross my fingers. :)
ReplyDeleteif i may, i would like to recommend http://www.knittinghelp.com. that's how i learned to knit. the videos were just the visual i needed when text just didn't always make sense.
ReplyDeleteyes, the internet was my grandma and taught me to knit!
ps. while traveling, i usually pack a spare set of needles in my checked bag, just in case they should get confiscated in my carry on. it's never happened, though.
Hi- I am a new commenter/visitor. : )
ReplyDeleteI have taken knitting needles on the plane many times and never had a problem. Technically, it is within the rules, but I always bring needles I don't care about too much, just in case!
(Oh, and I am looking forward to the "pretty" class too. see ya there!)
Amazing, knitting with three needles. I can't even knit with TWO. I tried, but I barely got a barbie scarf before I gave up. I am enjoying your blog.
